Maria Meehan

Lead Learning Designer

From Stanford to the performing arts classroom to Seesaw and now Clayful, Maria designs learning experiences that bring about a kinder & more more playful world

About

Maria grew up getting perfect grades in school, but as an extremely shy and self-critical kid, her most important learning experiences were the ones that helped her embrace herself and connect with others. She found the freedom to play within the structure of music and theatre. As she went on to study Human Biology at Stanford and teach at Bing Nursery School, Stanford’s lab school, she became further convinced that play is at the core of learning, and that one of the most important things we need to learn is how to be with each other. Maria went on to design and teach a school-based integrated creative music and movement program that also taught empathy, collaboration, and relationship skills. Later, she designed innovative social-emotional learning experiences for Seesaw. In her free time, Maria performs in a musical improv group and runs an educational children’s theatre company that empowers kids to tell their own stories. Maria is grateful every day for the opportunity to work with the amazing team at Clayful, and for the privilege of designing learning experiences for kids. She whole-heartedly believes in the power of connection and empathy that Clayful is working to create.
