Your child meets one-on-one with their own Clayful coach over video. Sessions are flexible — available before school, during the day, or after the bell.

Brief, research-backed check-ins administered a few times a year help make sure no student slips through the cracks. If your child's results indicate they could use more support, your school's counseling team will follow up.

Small-group sessions led by a Clayful coach, covering topics like managing stress, feeling like you belong, navigating friendships, and showing up to school consistently.
Less than 10% of applicants make it through Clayful's selection process. Every coach is certified, trained, clinically supervised, and background-checked before working with students.
With these layers in place, families can trust that Clayful provides a safe, supportive space where everyone can grow, share, and thrive.

The Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) is a California statewide program that helps schools get reimbursed for the mental health and wellness support they provide to students. Reimbursement comes from families' private health insurance providers, including Medi-Cal. Clayful participates in this program as a school-linked provider.
CYBHI covers services like behavioral health screenings, and individual and group support for lifestyle topics like friendship, social skills, executive functioning, stress, anxiety, and grief. Clayful's coaching falls within this scope.
Clayful coaches are not therapists. They are certified wellness coaches trained in CBT-informed methods and motivational interviewing, background-checked, and supervised by licensed clinical professionals. Coaching focuses on goals, skills, and daily challenges — not clinical diagnosis or treatment.
Some services may be eligible for insurance reimbursement. To seek reimbursement where permitted, the school district must first obtain your consent to bill insurance and collect your child's insurance information.
Providing this information allows the school district and Clayful, when applicable, to seek reimbursement for eligible services. Providing your insurance information does not mean you will receive a bill, and your child's ability to access support is not dependent on whether reimbursement is obtained.
This information is collected solely for reimbursement purposes as permitted by applicable laws and program requirements. Any reimbursement is subject to eligibility and insurance rules.
No. The CYBHI program prohibits health plans and insurers from passing any costs of these services to families — meaning no co-pays, no higher premiums, and no deductibles. Clayful coaching is provided at no cost to your family.
No. Receiving services at school will not reduce or impact students' or their families' ability to obtain care outside of school. Your coverage stays exactly the same. California Welfare & Institutions Code section 5961.4 and California Health & Safety Code Section 1374.722 (b)(6) prohibit insurance companies from requiring co-payments for CYBHI services or changing a family's insurance based on its use of them.
The reason parents are asked to provide consent is that consent to bill insurance is required — and most students are unaware of their health insurance information. Your consent helps make sure your child can access support without any extra steps getting in the way.
